Police officers have rescued a woman ‘in distress’ from the River Avon.
Emergency services responded to reports of a person in the water near Crabe Bridge, in Cranebridge Road, Salisbury, at around 9.20pm on Tuesday (11 June).
Police raced to the scene as ambulance and fire crews were deployed – including a specialist rescue unit from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Officers were able to recover the woman from the river and the fire service was stood down.
It’s understood they were treated by paramedics and taken to the hospital or another place of safety. Their condition is unknown.
Wiltshire Police confirmed that officers attended a mental health-related incident.
