UPDATE: Disqualified driver admits dramatic drink-drive crash in Chippenham
A man has been charged with three offences after a crash on a Chippenham roundabout.
An orange Hyundai i20 flipped onto is side and demolished a lamppost on the A350 West Cepen Way at around 6.30pm on Saturday evening (22 February).
The alleged driver, Courtney Reid, has been charged with three offences following the incident – and has been remanded in police custody to attend Swindon Magistrates’ Court this morning (Monday).
The 37-year-old, of Nine Acre Drive, Corsham, faces allegations of drink driving, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.
According to an eyewitness who narrowly avoided being hit, the car “flew right over” the roundabout, “rolling and missing our car by millimetres”.
She added that she had “never been so scared in my life”, and “smelt nothing but alcohol on them and in their car” following the dramatic smash.
Paramedics attended, assessing a woman passenger of the vehicle following the incident. She appeared upset and shaken at the roadside, but uninjured.
Wiltshire Police has not yet responded to our request for comment.
