A man has been arrested after ‘disrupting church service’ near Swindon.
The incident is said to have happened at St Jame’s Church, in the tiny village Marston Meysey – four miles north-west of Cricklade – on Sunday 30 March.
Members of the congregation were forced to remove the suspect – after he had entered the religious building and started abusing people attending a service.
On Tuesday (8 April), Wiltshire Police attended an address in Jacob’s Piece, Fairford, and arrested a 28-year-old man.
He was held in custody on suspicion of religious aggravated public order, using threatening words of behaviour and common assault.
In a statement, the force said the arrest came after a man “entered the church and disrupted the service before being escorted from the premises by members of the congregation”.
