Police have been searching for cannabis smokers on the Great Western Hospital site.
Reports of individuals using the Class B drug marijuana on the grounds of the Swindon hopsital sparked patrols by officers today (Thursday).
A police van and a police car were parked outside the Urgent Treatment Centre as PC 70495 Bunyan and his colleagues hunted the suspects.
In a statement, a force spokesperson said: “The North East and Rural team with PC 70495 Bunyan conducted mobile patrols around Great Western Hospital after reports of individuals being seen in the area using illegal substances, mainly Cannabis.
“Under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, Cannabis is classified as a Class B substance and is illegal to possess, grow, distribute, or sell.
“On top of this the use of illegal substances is not only a health risk but brings criminality and anti-social behaviour.
“Wiltshire Police work with and support our colleagues in the NHS and will deal with any offences on site robustly.
“Please report concerns to Wiltshire Police via 101, 999 or alternately report online.”
It’s not clear whether the operation yielded any results.
