A man has died when he was struck by a vehicle after falling from a bridge over the A303 in Wiltshire overnight.
Emergency services were called to the major route in the Mere area at around 11pm last night (Monday, 14 April).
The incident involved a 39-year-old man falling from a bridge over the A-road. He was subsequently hit by a vehicle.
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance attended alongside local 999 crews – but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“His next of kin has been informed and they are being supported by officers”, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said.
They continued: “Our thoughts are with them at this incredibly difficult time.
“The road has now fully reopened and our investigation into the incident is ongoing.
