FULL UPDATE & MORE PICTURES: Historic Hangar 3 at Old Sarum Airfield destroyed by fire
The fire service have issued a ‘chemical warning’ as a major blaze breaks out in a Wiltshire town this evening (Thursday).
Firefighters were called to the dramatic scene at a hanger in Lancester Road – on the Old Sarum Airfield site – at around 6.30pm.
In a statement, a Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service warned locals to close their windows due to potentially dangerous chemicals.
They said: “Fire crews are currently attending a large fire at Old Sarum Airfield, Salisbury.
“Due to the potential for unknown chemicals, please stay inside and keep your windows closed to avoid the smoke.”
