The A429 in Wiltshire has been closed after a serious crash involving a motorbike.
Emergency services were called to a three-vehicle road traffic collision on the busy route between Chippenham and Malmesbury at around 2.40pm today (Friday).
A 20-year-old man riding a Suzuki SV650 motorcycle hit the rear of a silver Nissan X-Trail, when it slowed due to a pedestrian in the road on a bend outside Hangar Farm.
The biker was thrown into the path of an oncoming black Land Rover Freelander – and sustaining suspected serious internal injuries.
Great Western Air Ambulance medics, responding in a critical car care, provided urgent treatment alongside local ambulance crews.
The casualty has been rushed to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where he remains in a serious condition.
A full-scale forensic collision investigation has begun at the scene – with the road likely to remain shut until Saturday morning (19 April).
Closures are in place between Junction 17 of the M4 and the roundabout outside M4 Karting near Hullavington.
