A sheep is dead and others have been injured in a dog attack near Swindon.
Police were called to the devastating incident at Westmill Farm, a wind and solar park, in Watchfield, Oxfordshire, on Thursday (24 April).
“We lost a ewe lamb and have several further injuries within the flock and obviously a rather large vet bill”, farmer Vera Hoenen said.
Adding: “My thanks to the people that stopped to hug me, help me and stay to check I was ok.”
Vera is urging locals to keep their dogs on leads when on the site to avoid further deaths.
“I have lost a ewe, her companionship, her hilarious antics, her stunning fleece for the next 10-13 years”, she continued.
“So much is lost because one arrogant, self centred, entitled person felt it more important their dog had an off leash walk than to follow the rules in place to protect our land, our wild life, our livestock and the people who work and live here.”
The owner of the dog is understood to have left the scene.
Witnesses to the incident are asked to contact Thames Valley Police on 101, quoting crime reference number 43250199751.
