UPDATE: Man dies after ‘falling from A303 bridge and being struck by vehicle’
The A303 is closed in both directions following a serious crash overnight.
Emergency services attended the major route at around 11pm on Monday (14 April) following reports of a road traffic collision in the Mere area.
At least one person has sustained significant injuries in the smash – sparking a forensic collision investigation at the scene.
The road is likely to remain closed until around midday today (Tuesday).
In a statement at around 7.20am, a Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “Please be advised part of the A303 is currently closed at a junction with the A350 and the B3081 turn off.
“Officers are dealing with a serious road traffic collision that occurred last night and the road is expected to remain closed for three more hours.
“Please seek alternative routes.”
National Highways say the closure is between the B3081 (Bourton) and the A350 (West Knoyle) – find full diversion routes here.
