A Gloucestershire police officer is due in court accused of assaulting a woman.

PC Neil Lorimer is set to stand trial at Worcester Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Tuesday 19 January).

He faces a single charge of assault by beating following an incident in Shrewsbury on 14 November 2021.

Gloucestershire Constabulary says the 49-year-old officer is currently suspended from duty pending the outcome of criminal proceedings.

The force confirmed that he worked in the Crime Management Unit when he was charged with the offence in May last year.

The assault investigation was undertaken by West Mercia Police due to the location of the incident.

Gloucestershire Constabulary said it cannot comment further due to the pending legal proceedings.
