Photographs posted online by the fire service show the aftermath of a major blaze near Lyneham.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the incident at Barnes Agricultural Services in Dauntsey at around 8pm yesterday (26 August).

Local residents reported hearing a number of explosions followed by numerous sirens from responding emergency vehicles.

The fire service has this morning (27 August) confirmed that two entire vehicles were completely destroyed by flames.

Firefighters prevented the blaze spreading to two other buildings on the site, but several crews remain at the scene at the time of publishing.

In the moments following the fire breaking out, a huge smoke plume could be seen from as far away as Westbury – with the scent lingering in homes across Lyneham, Calne and Chippenham into the night.

Wiltshire 999s understands no people or animals have been injured in the fire.
