A petrol station in Devizes has been taped off as a crime scene tonight as armed police descend on the town for the second time in a week.

Firearms officers and police dogs were seen in the area following an incident at Esso on The Nursery – which has since been cordoned off with police tape – at around 10.30pm.

Locals fear there has been an armed robbery at the garage, exactly one week after the gunpoint raid on a betting shop in the town centre last Thursday night.

The Esso service station has been taped off as police guard the scene

Wiltshire 999s understands that two men raided the store and at least one was armed with a knife.

UPDATE 11.18PM: The police helicopter is now overhead assisting with a suspect search.
