A bus shelter in Devizes town centre has been cordoned off after an incident.
Police were called to Market Place in the early hours of this morning (Thursday) following reports of a road traffic collision.
It’s understood a lorry reversed into the bus shelter, causing significant damage.
Officers cordoned off the area and, supported by Wiltshire Council highways operatives, the smashed glass was cleaned up.
In a statement, a Devizes Town Council spokesperson said: “In the early hours of this morning there was a traffic incident in the Market Place where a vehicle collided with a bus shelter.
“Wiltshire Police along with officers from Wiltshire Council Highways attended and did a fantastic job clearing up the glass and cordoning the area due to the damage caused (thanks to all for such a rapid response).
“Devizes Town Council will be looking to reinstate the shelter as soon as possible.
“We do not as yet have a timescale for this and will put out an update when we know more.”
