Five men were arrested following a serious incident on a Wiltshire traveller site.

A crime scene remains in place this afternoon following a violent disorder involving a number of people on Glenville Park, Marlborough Road, Royal Wootton Bassett, yesterday.

Police officers were first sent to the incident at around 6pm last night (Monday 25 January).

A static caravan appears to have had its front doors smashed in, with detectives and forensics probing the site as officers remain guarding the area.

Five people – all males – have been arrested on suspicion of a series of offences including violent disorder and remain in custody at Gablecross Police Station.

“Officers remain at the scene while our enquiries continue but we’d like to reassure the public that this was an isolated incident”, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said.

Anyone with information relating to this incident should contact Wiltshire Police by calling 101. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
