Efforts to find a missing Chippenham man are ongoing on the sixth day of the search.
Wiltshire Police say “extensive enquires” are being undertaken to locate Sebastian Sailes following his disappearance last Thursday (27 February).
The 21-year-old was last seen leaving The Black Horse pub in New Road, where it’s understood he was refused service at around 11.30pm.
It’s thought he made his way into Lovers Walk and walked along the River Avon towards his home in Notton – with specialist boat teams searching the water.
A body was found on Monday morning (3 March), but is belonged to a man aged in his 70s. Police said there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
The unrelated body was located in Westmead Open Space
The search for Sebastian is continuing today (Wednesday), with Wiltshire Search and Rescue (WILSAR) focusing on the same stretch of land and river in and around Westmead Open Space.
On day three of the urgent search, his mum has released a list of locations in which he may have walked along that night. She urged locals to check CCTV, camera doorbells and dashcam footage.
It’s understood there are two possible routes Sebastian could have taken as he made his way home:
Route 1: Along Avon Valley Walk to Avenue La Flèche > drop down at bridge over River Avon to Rowden dog walking fields > across walking track then up through Rowden Lane housing estate down Cornhill/Pudding Lane > B4643 Melksham Road to Lackham roundabout passing new housing development Rowden Park.
Route 2: Bath Road > Rowden Hill past Rowden Surgery, Chippenham Hospital and Rowden Arms > onto the B4643 Melksham Road towards Lackham roundabout, passing new housing development Rowden Park.
On Sunday (2 March), operations were force to stop when a member of the public’s drone came into the search area – where a boat and WILSAR drone were working in tandem on the river.
In the latest statement, Chief Inspector Ben Huggins said: ““We continue to appeal for anyone who may have information on Sebastian to get in touch, and for drivers and residents in the Chippenham/Rowden Hill area to check any dash cam or Ring Doorbell footage from around 11.30pm on Thursday into the early hours of Friday morning.
“If you can help, contact us on 101 quoting log 141 of February 28.”
Sebastian is described as white, around 5ft 10ins tall, slim build, with blonde/brown hair with a long fringe.
He was last seen wearing a grey jumper, blue jeans, a beige fur lined jacket and white Adidas trained with a Velcro strap across the top.
