A man has been charged with arson after it’s claimed he set a house on fire in Swindon.
Emergency services were called to Norfolk Close in Walcot early on Monday morning (10 March).
Firefighters battled a blaze at a house in the street, as police worked to find the suspect.
Agron Seferi, who lives at the same address in Norfolk Close, was later arrested in connection with the fire.
It’s also alleged he was in possession of a black-handled kitchen knife at a service station in Marlborough Road on the same date.
The 58-year-old has been charged with arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered and possession of a knife in a public place.
He has been remanded in police custody to appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday).
In a statement, Wiltshire Police said: “A man has been charged with arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered following a fire in Walcot, Swindon, yesterday.
“Agron Seferi, 58, of Norfolk Close, has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates Court this morning.
“It follows a fire at a property in Norfolk Close around 1am yesterday morning (10/03).
“Thankfully, no one was inside the property at the time.”
