Person struck by train near Devizes has died, British Transport Police confirms

The British Transport Police (BTP) has confirmed a person has died after being struck by a train near Devizes.

As first reported by Wiltshire 999s, Wiltshire Air Ambulance and other emergency services were called to the incident in the Patney area this morning (2 September).

In a statement, a spokesperson for the BTP said: “We were called to the line near Devizes at 10.48am today (2 September) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers are working to identify the deceased and inform their next of kin.

“This incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
