Police have raced to contain a bull after his escape from a field near Amesbury.
Officers were deployed after reports the large animal was roaming on Friday (28 March).
Passerby Daniela Harper called Wiltshire Police after spotting the bull out of his field – even crossing the road multiple times.
She said: “I spotted him out of the corner of my eye driving to my horses.
“Turned around to make sure if there was a fence now as that area is usually not fenced. To my surprise he was loose.
“Rang the police and tried my best to slow the traffic down till the police arrived, as he crossed the road twice.”
She added: “Glad no one got hurt and he is back in his field.”
In a statement, a force spokesperson said officers were met with a “friendly face” when they arrived.
Adding: “Officers kept the bull contained and away from the main road, until the local farmer arrived to herd the animal back to his field.
“Amesbury is surrounded by farmland and upon speaking to the local farmer, he has given us helpful information for dealing with livestock:
“Do not enter fields with cows with their calf as they can become particularly aggressive.
“Please remember to close all gates behind you when entering fields.
“Do not tamper with electric fencing.
“We would also like to remind you that if you see any livestock out of their field or on the road, please call us on 999/101 for your safety and the safety of the livestock.”
