Specialist police divers have been brought in to search the River Avon for Kondwani Mwale, a 24-year-old who went missing on Monday afternoon.

Wiltshire Search and Rescue (WILSAR) began the major water operation just a few hours after he was reported missing from his home in Trowbridge. Police divers were deployed yesterday and are now in day two of their search.

Specially trained search volunteers from Berkshire, Hampshire, Dorset and Oxfordshire are all assisting Wiltshire teams, and Wiltshire Police, in the West Wiltshire area.

Search and rescue volunteers from across the South of England are involved in the operation

Kondwani is described as black, of athletic build and five foot nine inches tall. It is believed he is wearing black jacket, dark top, grey jeans and carrying a black backpack.

If you have any information that could help officers locate Kondwani, please call 101 and quote reference number 54200107780. Call 999 in an emergency.
