A pregnant sheep has had her ear ripped off in a dog attack on Wiltshire farm.
The incident happened near Westbury White Horse on Wednesday afternoon (26 March).
The owner of the dog involved informed the farmer, and the sheep has undergone vet care.
The attack comes just days after a lamb was savagely mauled from a sheep’s stomach on the Fonthill Estate in south Wiltshire.
In that tragedy, the ewe died as a result of its injuries – but the lamb survived. The police attended and located the owners of the dogs – two labradors.
Speaking about Wednesday’s dog attack, farmer Sarah King said the “heavily pregnant ewe had her ear bitten completely off”.
She added: “Please, please, please keep your dogs under strict control when out walking on farmland.
“The dog owner did notify us and we hope we can keep her alive but it just should NOT happen!”
It’s not clear whether or not the incident was reported to Wiltshire Police.
