A video shows the moment a man smashed a hotel window and jumped out in Swindon town centre this morning (Friday).
The dramatic incident unfolded at the Premier Inn in Temple Street at around 8.45am, with emergency services rushing to the scene.
Footage – which we are not sharing – shows a man smashing his way out of the second-floor window, before jumping and falling to the ground.
A witness claims the man then got up and walked along Temple Street before attempting to steal a taxi, leaving blood on the door and window.
Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance were tasked soon after, with the helicopter landing in Spring Gardens. Critical care medics and local paramedics provided urgent treatment.
The casualty was taken to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol. He is believed to have sustained head and neck injuries.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We responded to reported concerns for the welfare of a man in Temple Street, Swindon, at 8.42am this morning (21/03).
“The man sustained serious injuries after falling from a window and he has been transported to hospital for treatment.
“There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding this incident.”
The area was cordoned off by officers while 999 crews attended. It remained in place for several hours due to glass across the pavement.
