A woman was spotted filling up a number of jerrycans with fuel near Trowbridge amid fears service stations could imminently run out of fuel.

Despite transport minister Grant Shapps telling the nation not to panic buy, motorists were seen rushing to fill up their vehicles since the early hours of this morning (24 September).

It’s been widely reported that there is no fuel shortage in the UK, but that’s not stopped people from stocking up.

A woman was photographed filling seven or eight jerrycans to the brim with petrol at the Shell service stations in Yarnbrook, between Trowbridge and Westbury, this afternoon.

She was snapped by an angry motorist who fears fuel panic buying could stop the emergency services from being able to respond to 999 calls.

“I hope the people who need the emergency services can get them after the d**kheads panic buying and leaving them without. Especially people like this…”, she said.

Service stations across Swindon and Wiltshire are feeling the effects of people’s panic buying, with some putting a limit on the amount of fuel you can purchase or closing early.

For some, worry set in when BP and Esso announced it has closed a “handful” of forecourts due to a lock of available fuel yesterday (23 September). Panic buying across Britain has exacerbated the situation and will most likely result in major supply issues over the coming days and weeks.
