A man was sliced with a knife in an attack in Swindon town centre yesterday evening.

Police were called to reports a man, in his 20s, has been seriously injured with a bladed weapon – rumoured to have been a machete – at around 7.30pm.

The attack happened outside the Card Factory in The Parade, an area of the town which was cordoned off as a crime scene until after midnight, as first reported by Wiltshire 999s.

Wiltshire Police say he was assaulted by a group of unknown offenders riding bicycles.

The victim suffered a serious arm injury and was rushed to hospital for treatment.

Detectives investigating the incident would like to hear from anyone who may have seen a group of youths on bicycles, all wearing dark clothing and face coverings, in this area of the town at the time of the assault.

Anyone who can assist with the ongoing police investigation is asked to contact the force by calling 101 quoting crime reference number 54210015649.

Alternatively, you can report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Last week, on 11 February, a man in his 20s was stabbed in the leg by approximately five youths riding bicycles in Verwood Close, Park North.
